Relish is no longer a full service restaurant: We are still a "Mom & Pop" operation, but have transitioned to CATERING instead of offering dinners a set number of days per week. For catered service in our building or on our patio, we will charge our market price for food and beverages. Grinnell College Special Events (Family Weekend/Graduation): After thinking about it long and hard, we regret to inform Grinnell College students and parents that we will probably NOT be open for college graduation meals this year, though we are still considering catering, and the attendant staffing issues will be a factor.

Special Events at Relish: Check out the block below! We have always enjoyed hosting musical and spoken word events here, and this one is happening on 6/16/24. We hope to offer cooking classes, special dinners~especially with a local foods focus, and other special events once or twice a month. But we are also taking time to enjoy our (semi-) retirement. Our FB page and email lists will note special events first. If you’d like to be added to our email list, send a note to that effect to info@relishgrinnell,com.

We (Kamal & Laura, the Relish team) are still trying to figure out how to help feed our community. The pandemic and the aftermath of the derecho really brought home to us the reality of food/nutritional insecurity in our own town. Since hospitality is an integral part of our familial cultures, we started addressing these perceived needs by giving away meals on Saturdays at lunchtime on 2/20/21. We also started a non-profit, called The Iowa Kitchen, to continue this work. We ask only that people call ahead and make an appointment for a pick up time between noon and 1 PM, and tell us how many meals (meat or vegetarian) they need. Leave the name the pick-up person will use. The Iowa Kitchen community meal is need-blind. If you like, you can leave a donation that will help us feed others, or scan the QR code in our sidebar. If you know people who are having a hard time getting out and about, please feel free to order meals that you would deliver! Eventually, The Iowa Kitchen will allow us to teach high school & college students how to cook nutritiously and economically for themselves, their friends and their families. Part of that education may be working with us to make and serve these Saturday meals, learning some basic kitchen, customer-service, and/or other job skills. If you or a young person you know would be interested, please contact us. Students will need to follow all current CDC guidelines for protecting themselves, the public and us from Covid infections.

ALSO. FYI: Relish occasionally sells retail through the Grinnell Farm to Table website. Visit this link: https://grinnellfarmtotable.locallygrown.net if you are interested. It's a great resource for those of you who want to stock up once a month on locally raised or prepared foods. Some of our providers, like Doty's Angus Beef, are selling this way as well.
